Oh those who are finding out,
what was done, and what it’s about
so let me please answer these
in a way slightly bounded
“I did it because I liked it”
it’s as real as this gets
in case you misunderstand
where my thoughts are at
your name rhymes here
and still it doesn’t, y’like that?
the One Lady who I’ve kept quiet
thank you, I’m glad you tried it
no response must be frustrating
I guess we’re commiserating
You’re needed in certain places
Your fussy flirtations are flattering
“I told ya” and Miss Kitty
Thanks for chatting
I’ve told you what I’m wanting
And yes, I’ve heard you flaunting
Do you carry that card everywhere?
I’ve listened since before we went walking
The man who gave me the pen
of course I will put you in
the Tao of Physics
Teary eyed with this
You gave me something new too
Thanks for honoring promises
Some others who heard me,
and don’t need to be seen,
as a last resort hopefully
and no more pinching
the cherubic smiles
I was happy to see
I will do my part
Play my cards
And get myself as ready
As I suppose I will ever be
To take on the world!
And show them my beauty

So, I Don’t Know…

The paper I posted, and the video that argued had the same author
that’s why I looked and found her, and the paper graciously turned over
I know who was around when I heard the sound of my name,
It was good friends, trying their hand, in hope, deed, and aim
The Video for a voice, try not to hate
but, We are legion, reverberate
and the BBQ to guard your grill
was in the yard of a good friend still
when I called out the 4, it was clockwise, at that time
The plus wasn’t finished, and you made it the sign
left to right, then bottom to top, only finished one line
I called what your eyes saw, it’s kinda rude otherwise
now please excuse, in some views, pride equals riches
fucking explain that shit bitches
the prestige, and the crown, are mine

A Beautiful Man

A Beautiful Man
A beautiful man
O please tell what that might mean
is it something inside?
is it something just seen?
is it what he won’t do
is it what he gets through?
is it in him, or in you?
Where do I look, as a young lad
the media around, or my own Dad?
the books full of knowledge
a lonely kind of college
or maybe it’s that fat wallet
A rose is a rose, whatever you call it
I hope it is the size of his heart
or the size of his brain, if that means smart
Appreciation of science, psyche, and art
Is it how well he fights when going to War?
Is it the Cause that he’s fighting for?
Or the word he keeps, and upon which he swore?
I hope it’s how he will try as he might
to solve the problem, and avoid the fight
to keep healthy, and keep up his looks
exercise his mind, tell jokes, read books
I guess when it’s all said and done
I hope that these someones
deservedly believe I’m one

Toilet PaPer

Toilet PaPer
If your word is good then why the hard line
Those lanes are for all, make the sacrifice
for all the people, yours and mine
Whatever the story give the concession
the righteous do not fear inspection
your honor is legend, give it action
give up the new wall and your claim
After all is done, what’s your aim?
know a warrior’s punishment for shame
make the land free for all to use
remember your friends in red, white, and blue
the pillage today is the regret of youth
the Mother is your bargain, not for sale
those bugs you invented obey the Pale
the fire left inside burns a trail
this isnt about control, it is about opening
show them true power is understanding
keep your borders stable, do housecleaning
use wisdom now, not in retrospect
forethought, compassion, and intellect
retain your honor, courage, and respect

The Who In Choose

The Who in Choose
The journey, I am relentless, but empty
The compromise, I am cautious, but willing
The future, I am embracing, openly
I understand a necessary lie
A secret’s a lie from the inside
Protection from prying eyes
The kind of thing money can’t buy
but the thing upon which it relies
and sometimes, it turns the tide
Like so much else, it’s in the use
And what puts the who in choose
only to find the you in truth

I bet you don’t even think of how you use those words. I have met very few people who do. You use them all the time, in a correct way, but it is likely, as is the case with so many words, you wouldn’t be able to tell others how to do it correctly, only correct them when wrong. Have you thought about it? What the difference is? One of the definitions for each word, and I believe they are etymologically connected, involves a frame of distance from the person or observer. I would say it is the main thrust of each word’s other definitions also. “This” deals with that which is close. Either physically, or within your mind. “That” deals with things that are further from you, either physically or mentally. When you say, “This is mine and that is yours,” the mental images or definitions do not…

More Than A Little Mad

More Than A Little Mad
Everyone has a reason for doing
Whatever’s needed to get them moving
When affection sings the highest of tones
Then deception steals the blood from bones
Live and let live, I am who I am
and I’m more than a little mad
Your visions of living enslave me
Forgotten, hiding, hidden, crazy
living in light, living the role
Your empty life, me plugging the hole
The Hatter has voices that I understand
Haha, heehee, I’m more than a little Mad
Banded together, a righteous conspiracy
How many required to fight uncourageously
Control is restraint when wielding power
Vengeance is fleeting when everyone cowers
I’ll take you all with me if I can
Oh yes, I’m more than a little mad
We’re in this together, no one’s leaving
One Earth, all life, sustainably balancing
Sacrifice propels the forward momentum
As good as time allows, there is no perfection
Scarred but grateful for what I have
Alive, I’m more than a little mad

A comprehensive list of precisely what agents and editors are looking for

nice one for all aspiring writers

Kevin Cullen's avatarColorTheBooks Blog

In my last post, I mentioned Hashtagify’s trail of breadcrumbs leading me to the Twitter hashtag “#MSWL” and all the goodies contained therein. MSWL (Manuscript Wishlist) is a hashtag used by agents and editors to broadcast to the Twitterverse exactly what kinds of books they’re looking for. Oftentimes they look something like this:

But the hashtag does have some drawbacks. For one, a lot of authors spamvertise (if that’s not already a word, I’m laying claim to it here and now) their self pubbed books using #MSWL in theoffchance that an agent will see one of their thousands of selfpromotional tweets and think, “Wow, that author has one hell of a drive. I think I’ll take their book…
